I first witnessed 'illadelphia's world famous DJ Cash Money DJing in 1997 at the legendary london hip hop club Scratch. A classic moment, the place was rammed, sardine style, with heads eager to hear the sound of money. The crowd went nuts as Cash dug in the crates for a killer selection of fresh hip hop and circle friendly funk. This was nearly a decade on since he was recognised as the world’s greatest DJ by winning the world DMC finals at the Royal Albert Hall in London in 1988. The undisputed world champion on the wheels of steel had won everything stateside, then came over here and took the title. Nearly a decade on since his still talked about first Scratch appearance, I caught up with Cash at Addict HQ...
It started from the old New York City mix tapes like Grandmaster Flash, Grandwizard Theodore & Afrika Bambaataa. Those tapes used to float down to Philly, that was like the beginning of hip hop.
Cash Money came from the basketball court. Everybody was a Grandmixer or a Grandmaster something, I wanted to be different and when ever I shot the ball people were like "That’s on the money!”
I love 'em all man. I love all my children!
I would have to say the DMC at the world finals (at the Royal Albert Hall in London in 1988) because I won everything in America and then I came over here and won that competition, it was the last one to claim me the world’s greatest!
The Scratch Perverts, X-ecutioners, Q-bert, Craze, the Beat Junkies, those cats are the ones that right now are trend setters man, because in my day when I was real hot I was a trendsetter, nobody was doing that.
Well, being the fact that the industry is trying get rid of vinyl, which is stupid, we don't have no alternative but to re-issue or bootleg. So it's a good thing for a brother like me who's still spinning vinyl.

I'd say about thirty thousand at one time. But I downsized now, so I'm down to like about fifteen thousand and everyone is a stick of dynamite man!
