CHRIS LAW

In 2000 whilst working at Bond International, Chris hooked up with Russle Williamson & Chris Aylen & started Unorthodox Styles (U-Dox) which in turn created Spine Magazine & Crooked Tongues.  The team produced designs on all platforms from print & web to product & events.  Chris now lives out in Portland, Oregon where he works for Adidas as the Lead Colour Designer for footwear & graphics, Chris also overseas & co-ordinates with Adidas’ artist & brand collaborations coming out of the US.

DISCO TECK

As part of the world famous Monorex crew, Disco teck is fast making a name for himself with his calligraphic fluid handstyle & his organic flowing shapes.  Equally at home with a marker, spraycan or mouse in his hand, Disco Teck writes with a freedom & confidence that belies his tender years.

FAT CITY

Specialising in hip hop, funk, jazz and soul, Fat City Records opened as a small record shop in Manchester's Affleck's Palace in February 1993. In the subsequent years Fat City has grown into a three-stranded music organisation. The Fat City Record shop expanded several times over the years before finally residing in Oldham Street, the cultural Northern Quarter of Manchester. In August 2009 the Fat City shop closed its outlet in Oldham St and the business moved to London where it continues to be at the forefront of online music retailing.

FINDERS KEEPERS

Behold the launch of Finders Keepers, a brand-new British record label, 40 years in the making, introducing fans of psychedelic / jazz / folk / funk / avant-garde and whacked-out movie musak to a lost world of undiscovered vinyl artifacts from the annals of alternative pop history.

FIVE-O STORE

The Five-O Store first opened it’s doors in October 2000 on the south coast in Southampton, providing the city with a fresh new independent clothing store comparable to the best in the country.

With a spacious, well designed interior, friendly and knowledgeable staff, Five-O Store offers a mix of contemporary designer brands and high end street wear labels alongside trainers, toys, and books for the discerning customer. The store quickly established itself as a firm favourite with people in the know and attracted like minded individuals looking for an alternative to the usual high street offering.

FRESHJIVE

A native of Los Angeles and practitioner of Los Angeles lifestyle, Rick Koltz was always searching for an avenue to combine his influences.  With a passion for graphic design, Klotz cut his teeth designing flyers for the variety of club and music scenes bubbling in the LA area during the mid to late eighties.

In 1989, Rick’s design skills and style segued from the paper medium to the cloth and Freshjive was born.

Taking a distinctive and personal pleasure in the process behind every t-shirt graphic he puts out, Erik Brunetti presents societal and personally relevant subjects as varied as ornithology, weaponry of the Sioux Indians and Polo through a particular and focused set of eyes. His path, which took him to Los Angeles, was similar to that of many others: without money but very well dressed.

HOT ONE TEN

Formed earlier this year, music and lifestyle e-zine Hot One Ten has rapidly established itself as one of the UK's key underground music/lifestyle sites with exclusive interviews, articles and downloads. With a team of columnists comprising of photographers, journalists and DJs at the core of the UK creative scene and it's own branded online channel, Hot One Ten likes to keep it's finger firmly on the pulse of what's new.

HYPEBEAST

Hypebeast was launched in January of 2005 as a one-stop news source for internet-savvy street fashion enthusiasts. Frustrated with having to browse multiple sites to keep up with the latest information, the creation of Hypebeast allowed for the latest news to be broadcast through one specific medium.

JIMI CRAYON

Jimi Crayon is fast becoming one of the UK's most popular young artists.  His work has a real positive passion and energy that makes it stand out against the typical negative social commentary increasingly found amongst his artistic peers.  Jimi believes everyone has the ability to make an impact in life and this is echoed through his work, sometimes quite literally written down like small statements screaming out at the viewer.

MC WREC

Jon Bailey aka MC Wrec is regarded as one of Britains most exciting artists and urban music entrepreneurs. Known as one of the hardest workers on the circuit, this versatile young grafter shot to fame in recent years after becoming the front man to the multi award winning live act London Elektricity and his work with accliamed eclectic acts The Nextmen, Stanton Warriors and Timo Maas.

MC WREC BLOG - AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 RAVES

With over 15 years on the mic, to many shows to mention and 7 world tours under his belt, Wrec aka Jon Bailey has earnt himself a rep as one of the world’s most versatile and indemand MCs. Rocking shows from NYC to Tokyo, his work and long-time affiliations with critically acclaimed acts including High Contrast, The Nextmen, Stanton Warriors, Tony Colman and Timo Maas have seen him perform on some of the world’s biggest stages. He also fronted the legendary London Elektricity band and has toured alongside Snoop Dogg, Kanye West, Cypress Hill, Beastie Boys and Calvin Harris.

MITCH

Multimedia artist/designer/typographer/illustrator/painter or m.a.d.t.i.p. as he prefers to call it, Mitch has some serious styles. Originally studying biology, he then went on to study graphic design before deciding to move from the north down to London. It was here that he started in the Swifty studios alongside Swifty, Mode 2, Robbie Bear and Fred Deakin.

His artwork is full of personality; his unique styles and prolific techniques make his work distinctive.

Bristol Based Mr Jago, a pioneer of the doodle, founder member of Scrawl Collective and a veteran in the street art movement and much respected among his peers.

Growing up in a small town, Jagos interests in art and design with influences from classic Marvel comics, graffiti and hip-hop culture have help forge his unique freehand style and distinct colour palette.

MUM'S THE WORD MUSIC GROUP

Mum's The Word Music Group is much than just an artist management company. Set-up by the independent minded Jon Bailey and Marc Sheinman in 2006, the past three years of total focus, dedication, and business development has placed MTW Music Group firmly on the map as one of the finest, forward thinking and diverse new music companies around. Although artist/producer management has been at the forefront of the business model, Mum’s The Word is a 360 degree music company, working its business in new areas. Alongside music, the company’s activity now spans the worlds of advertising, fashion, media and branding, plus their own record label.

NOT BAD FOR A GIRL

For all the ladies who have the persistence to be the best they can at what they do and stay humble with it.  For those that like to geek out over books, sneakers, records and fonts.  Launched in 2006 by London based graphic artist Karen Jane after graduating from the Royal College of Art, freelancing through various agencies and holding down her own projects.  Originally intended as an outlet for ideas rather than a label as such, the positive response has meant that NBFG has grown into a reality entirely through love over game plan.

ROGUE STATUS

Born just before the winter of 2005 in the raucous beach community of Venice, Rogue Status laid claim to tee shirt culture with it’s first collection. Dropping stark, raw imagery on cotton quickly captured the attention of street wear collectors and prime retail entities, and in doing so Rogue Status quickly grew into its founding cities reputation of shock and awe.

SHE ONE

Born and raised in London, James Choules fascination with typography began with the album cover, merchandising and band artwork of 70’s heavy rock. Scratching logos into his school desk, painting on the back of his leather jacket or creating the logo for his own secondry school hard rock trio his natural ambitions with drawing found a new outlet with the discovery of new York Subway graffiti. Suddenly the concept of being able to turn drawn letters into huge colorful murals was the way forward and in 1985, adopting the alter-ego SHEONE he began to make his mark on the street and subways of London.

SOOPA JAY

The long-time early ‘face of Addict’ and respected break-dancer, Jerome was a founder member of the Scarecrows Crew, the UK All-Stars and now a member of Crazy Legs’ legendary NYC B-Boy outfit The Rock Steady Crew. With several titles and video appearances under his belt, the Swindon raised, London based Soopa Jay is one of the best in his field. One of our first ever sponsored artists, Soopa Jay has been repping the brand for over a decade. Whether it be battling B Boys all over the globe, or rocking the garms in our very own catalogues, the ‘Soldier Of Other Peoples Art’ (S.O.O.P.A) continues to  represent the brand hard at street level.

SWIFTY

As one of the innovators of the “sampling” generation  Swifty’s work fuses found objects, paint and sculpture in a pop art sensibility that brings the art form blasting into the 21st century! Indeed in a similar fashion to Andy Warhol - Swifty is set to transend from the world of commercial graphics to the world of fine art. Drawing on his childhood experiences playing with Action Man and building Airfix models - Swifty explores why he likes camo so much and what makes these patterns and colours so appealing. Swifty has developed a style that is hooked into style and culture from the last 30 years combining his love of art with camouflage in an intriguing and original way.

SYD MEAD

Syd Mead lives in Pasadena where he continues to work from his home studio. His immeasurable talent is most easily accessed via his work in iconic movies like Tron (© Walt Disney 1982) and Ridley Scott’s Bladerunner (© Warner Bros Studios 1982) but Syd Mead’s cultural contributions are not limited to solely these memorable films - as epochal as they are. His career has seen him globe-trotting via art exhibitions and design symposia for some decades now.

THE NEXTMEN

Unless you have fallen lifeless somewhere thru the cracks you’ve more than likely witnessed Cambridge come Londoners The Nextmen, also known as Brad Baloo and Dom Search, at one of their many sweaty styled-out club sets, festival-stopping performances or heard their incendiary mixtapes on the neighbourhood ghetto blaster.

THE PART-TIME HEROES

Having drawn comparisons to Portishead, St.Germain and even Groove Armada, there is no question that the Heroes debut album (soon to arrive) is an exciting, eclectic and fresh journey over different tempos, incorporating live instrumentation, deep jazz roots and organic soul nourishing goodness. With eclectic DJ sets and an exciting live show, things are looking up for these heroes.

WILL BARRAS

Will Barras along with Mr Jago and Steff is one of the original Scrawl Collective members. He was already on the road to success with the now famous Hip Hop Don't Stop sleeves already under his belt when the collective first formed. Like his compadre Mr Jago, Will began his glittering career in a call centre. Doodling stopped him going insane, and he developed a fucked up way to hold a pencil and a distinctive illustrative style which to this day is like no one else on earth.

WILL ROBSON-SCOTT

North Londoner born and bred, spent a few of his formative years in NYC, grew up skateboarding listening to Nirvana then found hip hop and punk, the usual anti-establishment angst ridden teenage years, then found photography by accident. Will now spends a lot of time waiting to take photos of people who don’t want their photo taken.

XLARGE

Xlarge began in November 1991. The very first XLarge store opened in Los Angeles on Vermont Ave - a street in which a scene had already been developed. It was a combination of skateboarding, hip-hop, art, and cultural changes that were happening in the early 90’s.There were a few other shops that sold similar products, but XLarge was the only store that had everything - from Ben Davis to Carharrt,Adidas to Puma - and an original line of clothing with a utilitarian flavor.
